We're spending the holidays in New Brunswick with Dwayne's family. It's beautiful up here, with ten inches of snow and lots of open space. You feel like you can breathe in a place like Sussex, after living in Los Angeles.
Tonight we had one of our more memorable moments in Sussex. We played Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in St. Mark's Live Nativity. It's the church Dwayne's parents go to, and when they were short a Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus for one of the performances, they asked if we'd be willing to do it!
It was so funny and Dwayne told his Dad that they would be in our debt for a long time!;-) I rode in on a live donkey, Dwayne had an Amish beard with bright pink blush, and Noelle got put in a manger with real hay and some half eaten apples from the donkey! You can imagine I was just squirming the whole time she was in there.
Also this was all done outside! Can you believe it? In this Canadian winter? But we stayed pretty warm with all the lights and livestock. One goat had his eye on Noelle and kept making for the manger to have a little nibble. The choir skipped a song, thus fast forwarding the narrative and skipping a chunk of the story. The shepherd at the front of this picture fell off the stable and into a pile of hay on the ground. This was by far the funniest moment of the whole evening.
Lee, Dwayne's brother-in-law, caught it on tape. At this very moment my in-laws are in the other room watching the tape over and over again laughing hysterically. What a fun memory. We're going to tell Noelle about this for years to come.
