The Perils of Learning to Speak

Yesterday, Noelle walked into the bathroom with her little car saying, "Itsa f**k. Itsa f**k."

What she was in fact trying to say was, "It's a truck. It's a truck." But the "tr" sound is a bit difficult when you're just barely two. For instance, she says the word "three" as "fee."

"That's a car!" I corrected.

She toddled back out of the bathroom. I continued to get ready.

A few minutes later she walked back in going "Itsa a f**k. Itsa f**k."

"It's a car, sweetie," I said trying not to laugh.

"No!" she insisted. "Itsa f**k."

Hmm. The dangers of learning a new language.

That's how Sam pronounces any work that starts with "f". The worst is when he refers to my freckles as, "Mommy f**ker." :) And when he sees fog outside he gets so excited he yells the word.

I'm also LOL at Amanda's comment :)

at our house, "truck" isn't the problem...it's "fork." The "r" sound doesn't get pronounced very well :P

also, Elijah has a puzzle with both a sailboat and a big ship. I tried to label the "ship" but quickly decided we better just call them both "boat" for now!

Amy! Yes! That is hilarious! I think boat is the safer bet by far! ;-)
